National Senior Rowing Selection Trials, Sydney

Sarah Hawe, Ciona Wilson, Georgia Nesbitt were named the 2020 Australian Rowing Team – they will compete in the Rowing World Cups and Final Olympic Qualification Regatta.

SA Olympic Trials 2 (Pistol), Queensland – Pistol Shooting

Bailey Groves won Gold by .1 with his lost shot in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol final.

FIH Pro League v Argentina in Perth - Hockey

Match 1: The Kookaburras, including Eddie Ockenden and Jack Welsh were defeated by Argentina in a shoot-out. Jack scored in the last quarter.
Match 2: Eddie became the most capped Kookaburra in history – 366 caps. The Kookaburras defeated Argentina 5-1.

ITU World Triathlon Series, Abu Dhabi

The event was cancelled due to corona-virus

 

UCI Track Cycling World Championships

Georgia Baker finished 5th in the Team Pursuit and 14th  in the Omnium. Amy Cure competed in the Madison.

Australian  Open - Weightlifting

Kaity Fassina won Gold in the 87kg category.

Tasmanian Track and Field Championships

Hamish Peacock won the Men's Javelin event.

 

FIH Pro-League

The Kookaburras, including Eddie Ockenden and Joshua Beltz, defeated India 4-3 in their first encounter. The following day, the Kookaburras lost to India in a penalty shoot out after a 2-all draw.

2020 Sydney International Whitewater Festival - Canoe Slalom Australian Open

Daniel Watkins secured his provisional spot for his first Olympic Games!

Sir Graeme Douglas International Continental Tour, Auckland

Hamish Peacock was second in the Javelin with a throw of 77.58m.

SA Olympic Trials 1 (Pistol)

Bailey Groves finished 2nd in the 10m Air Pistol event and 5th in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol.

 

Melbourne Track Classic

Stewart McSweyn won the 5000m Australian Championships convincingly at the Melbourne Track Classic.

After the race Stewart said, “Because there is no pacers, I knew it was going to be a lot slower but I have shown that I can run well in a fast race at Zatopek and can run well tactically as I did tonight, this is important because at Olympics you just don’t know what kind of race you’re going to get and I need to have both abilities if I am going to medal,”

Stewart's next goal is to qualify for the 1500m.

NSW Rowing Championships

Due to inclement weather many events were cancelled.

Jandakot Airport Track Classic

Hamish Peacock won the javelin with a throw of 78.43 metres. Jack Hale finished second in the 100m with another personal best performance. Jack is now ranked 6th on the Australian All-Time list.

FIH Pro-League Kookaburras v Great Britain

In another exciting match the Kookaburras, including Eddie Ockenden, secured the win in their first game against Great Britain in a 3-1 penalty shootout after the scores were locked at 4-4 at full-time. Eddie scored in the 19th minute.
The following day the Kookaburras convincingly defeated Great Britain 5-1 moving them to third on the ladder.

2020 Oceania Canoe Slalom Championships

Daniel Watkins won gold Men's C1 event provisionally securing Australia's fourth and final Olympic canoe slalom quota spot. Daniel took out the win in a clean 101.57 second run.

ACT Athletics Championships

Jack Hale won the 100m with a PB which took him from 13th on the Australian All-Time list to 7th!

FIH Pro-League - Kookaburras v Belguim

Eddie Ockenden and the Kookaburras lost to Belgium in an exciting encounter which led to a shoot out in the first match of their FIH Pro-League.
Match 2: The Kookaburras suffered a 4-2 loss to new world number one Belgium.
