Tasmanian Sports Awards Gala Dinner

The Tasmanian Sports Awards is the state's most prestigious annual sports awards. The event recognises the outstanding achievements and performances during the 2008 year of Tasmanian athletes as well as innovation and excellence in the state's sport and recreation sector, from grass-roots to the elite level. Special Guests for the night were Tim Lane and Tom Gleeson. The event was again a great success. Award winners are as follows:

• Athlete of the Year - Scott Brennan OAM
• TIS Male Athlete of the Year - Scott Brennan OAM
• TIS Female Athlete of the Year - Hollie Grima
• TIS Junior Athlete of the Year - Carly Cottam
• Coach of the Year - former TIS Coach Rhett Ayliffe
