TASMANIAN SPORTS AWARDS

JUDO ATHLETES SUCCEED AT INTERNATIONAL OPEN February 11

At the ACT International Judo Open in Canberra, Priscus Fogagnolo won 1st place in the Men's competition and Stephanie Grant finished in 2nd place in the Women's competition.

JAMIESON FOLLOWS FORM February 11

At the Australian Track Cycling Championships, Mark Jamieson gained Silver in the Men's 40km Points Race, adding to his Gold in the 4000m Pursuit.

GOSS CONTINUES WINNING FORM February 7

Belinda Goss continued the Tasmanian's winning form by claiming first place in the Women's 25km Points Race at the Australian Track Cycling Championships in Sydney.

WINNING FORM AT TRACK NATIONALS February 6

Cycling athletes Mark Jamieson and Trent Deacon have both experienced wins at the Australian Track Cycling Championships.  Jamieson won the Men's 4000m Individual Pursuit, qualifying him to represent Australia at this years World Cup, and Deacon won the CP4 1000m Time Trial.

KHOURY HAS NATIONAL WIN January 29

Tennis athlete, Nina Khoury, won the doubles competition at the National Under 14 Hard Courts Competition in Gosford, NSW.

KOOKABURRAS WIN 5 NATIONS January 29

Guest, Wells and Ockenden assisted the Australian Men's Hockey Team to win the 5 Nation Tournament in South Africa.  Eddie Ockenden scored 4 goals throughout the tournament.

TABERLAY GAINS SILVER AT AUSTRALIAN TITLES January 29

Sid Taberlay finished in 2nd place at the Australian Mountain Bike Cross Country Titles in Canberra.

HOCKEY TRIO IN THE OLYMPIC MIX January 29

Matthew Wells, Eddie Ockenden and David Guest have been selected in the Kookaburras' 2008 Olympic Squad.

SWIMMERS TASTE SUCCESS January 29

TIS athlete results at the Tasmanian Open and Under Age Swimming Champs in Hobart:

*Nicholas Cannell - 1st, 200m Individual Medley, 400m Indiv. Medley & 100m Backstroke

*Ray Winstanley - 1st, 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle & 200m Freestyle

*Rebecca Foster - 1st, 50m Freestyle

*Lyarna Graham - 1st, 100m Freestyle & 1500m Freestyle

*Matthew Free - 1st, 800m Freestyle

*Shani Burleigh - 1st, 50m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke & 200m Backstroke

OCKENDEN ON A ROLE, SCORES AGAINST GERMANY January 21

Eddie Ockenden scored the only goal for the Australian Men's Hockey Team in a match draw (1-1) against Germany.  This match was a part of the 5 Nation Tournament in South Africa.

WORLD CUP WIN FOR JAMIESON January 21

Mark Jamieson (cycling) experienced success at the LA Track World Cup, winning the Teams Pursuit yesterday.  Belinda Goss finished 8th in the points race.
