SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
Individual Scholarships are available to athletes normally resident in Tasmania who are registered with a national or state sporting organisation.
Individual Scholarships are not available to athletes that participate in the following sports: basketball, cycling, football (soccer), hockey, netball, rowing and track and field.
If you are involved in these sports contact the coach through the details listed on the respective sports pages. For sports listed as operating Elite Development Programs (AFL Football, canoe (wildwater), cricket, diving, sailing, swimming and tennis), please contact the relevant State Sporting Organisation.
Individual scholarships are awarded in three categories: elite, elite development level 1 and elite development level 2 and are determined on performance-based criteria. They provide financial assistance directly to athletes for travel to competitions and training camps interstate and overseas, as well as access for them and their coaches to the complete range of TIS services, including:
- sports science testing, monitoring and result analysis
- access to the TIS medical network, including doctors, physiotherapists, nutritionists, psychologists and masseurs;
- specialist staff to advise on athlete career and education services and strength training;
- access to the TIS resource centre.
Applications for Individual scholarships are awarded for a 12-month period from January each year.
