Netball

An Elite Development Squad (EDS) structure overseen by Netball Tasmania in partnership with the Tasmanian Institute of Sport and supported by Netball Australia.

Objective:

To identify and develop, talented Tasmanian Netball athletes who demonstrate the potential for selection in Netball Australia’s elite programs. This program aims to create a cohesive tiered program which can be clearly communicated to all Netball stakeholders in Tasmania.

Program:

The program aims to provide elite opportunities to identified Tasmanian Netball athletes who demonstrate potential for selection in Netball Australia’s Elite Programs.

To support the development of Tasmania’s elite netball athletes, the TIS offer access to the below:

  • Strength and Conditioning
  • Performance Nutrition
  • Recovery and Injury Prevention
  • Sport Psychology
  • Sport Science
  • Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement Services
  • Access to Specialised Equipment
  • Individualised Feedback Through use of Technology

Selection:

Selection for the program (each Tier) will be completed by panels formed by the Netball Tasmania High Performance Manager. Players will be assessed by the selection panel at a variety of competitions and events.

Progam Period:

1 January to 31 December.

Players will be offered a 12 month placement in the EDS Tier 1 and Tier 2 programs, while the Tier 3 is a six month program. Letters of offer will be sent to players by Netball Tasmania at times appropriate to the Tier structure.
