Coach Development

Coaching Centre Program

The program objective is to develop, implement and embed a sustainable Coaching Centre in TIS operations.

A centre which all sports in Tasmania could look to as an opportunity to develop and enhance coach progression.

Engagement with State Sporting Organisations to establish research, consultation and subsequent gap analysis and development of ‘pilots’ has continued assisting in deļ¬ning the path forward.

The TIS Coaching Centre is now working closely with Sport and Recreation Tasmania around support and engagement with the Community Coaching Forums ran throughout Tasmania.

The TIS will assist with topics, presenters and supporting ongoing coach development.

The Women in Sport Coaching Scholarship (WCS)

The Women in Sport Coaching Scholarship (WCS) is a partnership between Womensport & Recreation Tasmania (WSRT) and the Tasmanian Institute of Sport (TIS). The WCS purpose is to provide women with quality coach learning and development opportunities to support their progression along the coach development pathway. Ultimately, the goal is to see more women coaching sport in Tasmania.

The WCS is targeted toward women who might not otherwise have access to high quality coach development and learning - through financial constraints or who are from rural/remote communities.

Who is eligible?

The successful candidate must meet the following criteria to be considered for the scholarship:

  • Australian citizen or have permanent resident status.

The timing of the scholarship period is flexible and dependent on the individual, the program activities and the sport.
