Congratulations to the six worthy Tasmanian athletes who have been announced as finalists for the 2020-2021 Tasmanian Athlete of the Year.
The six finalists are:
- Joshua Beltz (hockey);
- Deon Kenzie (athletics);
- Stewart McSweyn (athletics);
- Eddie Ockenden (hockey);
- Richie Porte (cycling); and
- Ariarne Titmus (swimming).
All finalists were members of the Australian Olympic Team or Australian Paralympic Team and competed at the 2020 Toyko Olympic/Paralympic Games, held in 2021.
Judging is based on athlete performances recorded during the two year period between November 2019 and October 2021 due to the impact of COVID-19 on international sporting competitions, particularly in 2020.
The 2021 Tasmanian Athlete of the Year will be announced at a special cocktail function on Thursday, 9 December 2021.
New inductees into the Tasmanian Sporting Hall of Fame will also be recognised at this event.
