Rachel is a young, driven and talented hammer thrower and the primary Hammer Throwing Coach for Athletics Tasmania. Rachel holds Athletics Australia Level 1 Coaching Accreditation and a Level 1 Australian Strength & Conditioning Association accreditation.

Rachel coaches junior athletes in a variety of disciplines and in her first 18 months of coaching, Rachel coached one of her athletes to win the U15 Women’s Hammer Throw National title, five metres ahead of the next best competitors. Rachel has coached six podium-finishing athletes at a national level 2021 to present, an Australian Representative who placed fourth at the Oceania Track and Field Championships and athletes to three national records.

Rachel began her athletics journey at the Clarence Little Athletics Club, where she participated for 11 years, before signing up to Eastern Suburbs Athletics club to further her skills. She went on to become a decorated hammer thrower with three bronze medals at the Australian Track and Field Championships and the Australian All Schools Track and Field Championships between 2015 and 2018. Rachel is also the current Tasmanian Open Women’s State Champion for hammer throw.

After a break from her sport, Rachel filled a coaching gap with Athletics Tasmania as a Hammer Coach taking on a couple of keen athletes and found that coaching is where her passions lie. Rachel loves helping people achieve their dreams, and coaching athletes to be better athletes, but more importantly, better people.

Rachel’s goal is to further the next generation of athletes to be their best.

Rachel was named Athletics Tasmania’s Emerging Coach of the Year in 2022 and has participated in training camps with Athletics Australia’s Lead Throws and Olympic Coaches.

In her spare time, she loves to play musical instruments and listen to music. Rachel has completed a bachelor’s degree in medical research at UTAS, enhancing her ability to research for the best tips and tricks for athletics coaching.
