A National Training Centre program conducted by the Tasmanian Institute of Sport in partnership with Athletics Australia (AA) and Athletics Tasmania (AT).

Objective:

To identify and develop talented Tasmanian track and field athletes to a competitive level on the international scale.

Program:

The TIS Athletics Program is an integral part of AA’s High Performance Program. The program is based on the aims of the national high performance strategy and will provide Tasmanian based athletes and their personal coaches with an environment of excellence beneficial to Tasmania and Australia. The program is funded by the TIS and AA, supported by AT as the State Sporting Organisation.

In particular, the program will focus firstly on athletes at the Enhanced National Athlete Support Structure (NASS) level and secondly on Tasmanian athletes with International potential. It is a fully integrated program and includes athletes with a disability (AWD) and other groups supported by AA.

The program will provide scholarship athletes with a full range of support services including:

  • Strength and Conditioning
  • Performance Nutrition
  • Recovery and Injury Prevention
  • Coaching
  • Sport Psychology
  • Sport Science
  • Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement Services
  • Access to Specialised Equipment
  • Support for Athletes Competing in National and International Events

1 May to 30 April.

Location:

The TIS Athletics State Performance Advisor is based at the Technopark in Hobart, but works with athletes and their coaches around the State.
