Henry Youl inducted into TIS Champions Club

On Thursday 4 December at our Annual Breakfast, rower Henry Youl, was inducted into the Tasmanian Institute of Sport's Champions Club.

Established in 2006, our Champions Club recognises retired athletes who have held a TIS Scholarship for more than five years and have achieved exceptional performances on the international stage in their chosen sport.

Showcasing his talent at sculling and sweep rowing in both single and crewed events, Henry carved out an impressive, consistent career in Australian rowing.

A product of Launceston’s Tamar Rowing Club, Henry won the under-21 Men’s Single Scull at the 2015 national championships.

He stroked the Australian under-23 Men’s Coxed Four to a bronze medal (2016) and fifth-place finish (2017) at World Championships.

In the U23 events at the 2017 Australian Championships, Henry earned bronze and gold medals in the Single and Double Sculls respectively.

In 2022, he was a member of the Australian Men’s Eight which finished second at World Rowing Cups II and III and added a bronze medal at the World Championships in the Czech Republic.

A year later, Henry’s first open national title came in the Quad Sculls, following up with 11th place in the same event at the World Championships after again competing at two World Cups.
